Hazel’s nursery came about very naturally. I knew I wanted her room to be bright, whimsical and meaningful. So I began to slowly collect items from family members to create a heirloom nursery.
I grouped together paintings made by several different Great Grandmas and even included a paint by number I painted myself.
My Grandpa used to make clocks from old tree stumps so I modernized one by painting it a fun cheery color. I also added a few items I found on our last trip to Mexico such as the woven flowers and mini guitar. Vintage sheets were modge podged to both an old dresser and a cubby shelf we had used in Calvin’s nursery previously.
I wanted to keep her room looking simple but whimsical by adding pops of color and vintage touches. My mother made this quilt for Hazel and I love how it adds a more modern touch with the pattern of fabric. Her room was very budget friendly since we bought a used Jenny Lind style crib and made use of things we already owned or by making them ourselves.
This project was a much slower process than Georgia’s nursery since we had so much more time to prepare and I believe the patient design is evident in all the meaningful details. Now that Hazel is finally here, the room truly suits her perfectly.
