Just seven years ago you were gently placed on my chest and I marveled at the newness of you, my firstborn. I made note of everything my senses could drink up. The feeling of your chest rising and falling against mine, the way my hand could cup your tiny head, the otherworldly newborn smell. I will never forget the blessed first hours of your entrance to the world and how purely intimate the moment was. I continue to be astounded by the instantaneous and overwhelming love I felt for you. And that love grows bigger, deeper, and stronger with each new day we are privileged to spend daily together.
As you have gotten older it has been so much fun to watch you discover yourself, your opinions on things and what you love and enjoy. For your 7th Birthday I let you take more control over planning out the details for your special day. And in so doing, you decided you wanted to spend the day with dad! So your dad and I got busy right away planning a special day for you. This year you requested a Chocolate cake with Peppermint frosting! So I whipped a very homemade looking Lego cake as a surprise as we planned out your special day. From a birthday cinnamon roll breakfast, discovering new heights at the Space Needle, exploring the Pacific Science Center, to watching a Mariners Game. Your dad pulled out all the stops, and endless treats! But we came up with the idea of surprising you by inviting your friend Owen to come along! Owen took the whole day off from school and came over for a sleepover and joined you and your dad on your Epic day of adventure. And what a day it was!
