Wintercation | 2018

Back in February we took a weekend getaway just a few hours away from our home to the tiny little town of Roslyn near Cle Elum. We rented a home in hopes that there would be snow and the weather did not disappoint. Each morning we woke up to a fresh coat of snow great for sledding, making a snow man and snow ball fights. We found a perfect sledding hill just beyond a no trespassing sign we accidentally ignored. The boys took turns sledding to see if they could beat each other’s record in distance, while the girls complained about how cold they were. Both of them experienced a face full of snow while sledding down as the path down wasn’t clearly defined yet.  The girls also fell asleep while being pulled in the sled as we walked back to the house, I think they were also tired out from walking in the snow. Back at the house, the boys built a snow cave together while us girls warmed up inside and made a light lunch. Most of our meals we ate out but enjoyed lazy mornings with a pancake breakfast with cartoons. The house we rented also was equipped with a hot tub right outside the back door on the deck which we enjoyed in the evenings. We all would pile in right before we put the kids to bed. Eric and I enjoyed quiet evenings together binge watching sci-fi movies, I think I fell asleep during both of them! Perhaps it’s just me, but movies aren’t nearly as captivating as Netflix and Prime original series these days.  Or else maybe I prefer longer plot lines now. Anyways, it was good to know we weren’t missing much since we haven’t frequented the movie theater since having kids. Needless to say, our weekend getaway was a lot of fun and we all left happy!
