I’m so excited to share Georgia’s nursery! We moved into our new home only 10 days before Georgia was born and one of our first projects we tackled was creating Georgia’s nursery. I knew if we delayed finishing the nursery that it would easily get put aside as soon as we had a newborn to care for. The funny thing about the whole rush was that during those early weeks, Georgia was sleeping in a bassinet in our room. Nevertheless, it was so nice to have the room finished and ready for her.
The room started with a distressed white wood sleigh crib and dresser I had bought gently used for Calvin’s nursery years ago. I loved the white wood and knew that it would be a great piece I could use for future babes down the line. The bedding was lovingly made by my mother including the crib bumper and quilt from fabric I had purchased off etsy. We decided to paint the room a light blue grey called Silver Cloud to offset all the pinks and yellows from the bedding. I love how the color pulls everything together.
The shelves were made and installed just two days before Georgia arrived! We simply modge podged fabric from vintage sheets I had thrifted onto them. I decorated the shelves with horses we had spray painted white and frames from Ikea. The look was complete after I added a few baby books that I had been collecting and vases I had inherited from my Grandmother.
One of my favorite parts of the room is the horse mobile. I scored it off etsy along with the bunting and a few other decorations. The art is made by Katie Daisy and I love how happy and cheerful it looks. The yarn covered G was leftover from our Gender Reveal party, funny how that worked out! I painted the horse paint by number similar to one that displays in my Grandma Marge’s home. The tiny wooden cradle I found used and painted it yellow from leftover paint from Calvin’s nursery. It was important that my daughter had something made by me for her to cherish. The cradle will be a perfect place to store her dolls including the Ragedy Anne doll made by my Grandma Marge. The process of putting together this room for our little girl was so much fun and I love all the handmade touches! I’m so glad we were able to finish it in time so that we were able to rest and enjoy our new baby girl.
