If there’s one place I have not yet grown tired of going back to, it would Mexico. This year we flew into Loreto and stayed at the Villa Del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto. This was our first time staying at a remote beach resort and utilizing the luxury of “all inclusive.” I wasn’t sure what to expect and I had a few reservations about having to stay a full week without leaving the resort, but I was pleasantly surprised. Since we travel as a family it was so nice to not have to do any dishes, cooking and cleaning which made this trip feel very much like a true vacation. I was also encouraged by how well my kids behaved on the plane this time around. In case you forgot, our last plane ride a year ago was incredibly stressful with Hazel. But she did great this time and even took a nap! The other two were happily content watching movies and playing games on their tablets.
As soon as we arrived, we went straight to the pool and enjoyed some snacks poolside. It wasn’t till after we had showered and changed for dinner that we walked down to the beach and then to dinner. The kids loved the shows that the resort put on each night. The restaurant seemed to save a table for our family each night front and center because we always had a great view of the show. They even invited the kids on stage afterwards.
The beach was very shallow and full of sea life, perfect for wading through. The kids found so many beautiful treasures at their feet. We were even advised to shuffle our feet because of string rays. While walking out to paddle board I in fact almost accidentally stepped on one! Paddle boards and kayaking were all available for our use. The kids and I really enjoyed kayaking near the rocky shores where we saw so many beautiful fish!
The kid pool area was so beautiful and the kids loved the little water fall and splash fountain portion. It was defiantly nice to relax on the lounging chairs. The girls took most of there naps there! The cool breeze coming from the Ocean made it incredibly comfortable, I may have snoozed a bit too.
Each night we would walk out to the hammocks to enjoy the sunset right before dinner. Some nights the Ocean breeze was even strong enough to gently sway us.
The resort even put on a beach party and we all were handed blue tropical drinks and flower leis to wear. Eric participated in the dance contest which was memorable! His song was of course Gangham style.
Near the end of our trip we all took a boat tour which made several stops which included the Isla Carmen and Isla Danzante. We saw Pelicans, dolphins and a Seal the tour guide affectionately named Juanito. The most memorable part of the tour was when we happened upon a pod of Pilot whales! They came right up to our boat even. Eric and I at that point decided to tie a rope around the girls to keep them securely in the boat in an effort to ease our nerves.
When the kids needed a break from the sun and pool we would stop by the kid area. The kids made bracelets and helped decorate a pinata which we later used on the Mother’s Day celebration dinner towards the end of our week.
By far the best show that the resort put on was their adaptation of the Broadway show CATS.
Eric took this picture of the kids and I on Mother’s Day. Hazel feels so bad about not kissing in the photo that she’s been kissing me at every chance since.
It’s official, we are a family that loves all inclusive resorts! 100% we will be taking more vacations like this in the future. Till next time. . .
